I was lucky to have spent a few years in Durgapur because I came to know you. I have told some close friends here how you have been a significant influence in the way my path has shaped out. It took me a while to fully appreciate some of the things you spoke about often: how to think and more importantly, what to think about.

It is nice indeed that you take a great deal of satisfaction in the simple pleasures of life. I remember you've taken up gardening; I'm sure that adds to it. With regards to autobiographical writing, I have noticed (and upon discussing with others, they too seemed to agree) that we seem to look back on a lot many memories wearing "optimists' glasses": the pleasant memories tend to become even rosier, while the not-so-good ones seem to fade away.

Merely imagining Fr. Wautier doing the jig made me laugh. Obama has visibly greyed a lot in just two terms. It is credit to you that in spite of all the years of work and everything that has happened in recent times, you have managed to not grey too much, at least from the outside!

Sincerely
Nishant.Nishanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04476670168055492486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30819742.post-3944669786597543342016-06-12T21:37:01.660+05:302016-06-12T21:37:01.660+05:30Dear Sir,

Probably good things fall apart so that better things can come together. At the same time, I wish you were still there in school during our time: taking classes, organizing excursions. One of the memories I cherish from school days is you sitting at the desk near the library entrance after the school was over. I don't know why I never had the courage to say anything more than "May I come in" or "Good afternoon" although you always responded with a smile.

Thank you for sharing the memories; it was a pleasure to read them. I hope you do this often and it does matter to some people. Also, I wish there are more of the video sessions; as far as I know, you have recorded only once.

Take care Sir.

With regards,
Saikat.Saikat Chakrabortyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15868010301131014776noreply@blogger.com
