Just FYI

Seven hundred visits in seven days. Odd. The last time this happened was when I wrote I wish I had resigned sooner. Makes one think, doesn't it?

After a gap of years I have been experimenting with the 'look and feel' of this blog. I was getting a little tired of the same old (and rather bland-) template. Within two days one reader has sent in some positive feedback, one has complained, one has sounded doubtful. So I guess it is hard to please all. But I am not entirely pleased myself, so look forward to further changes soon.

I am glad some old boys are trying their hand at writing on their own blogs and telling me about it. I wish them good luck, and many happy hours of writing. Just don't give up too soon!

P.S., May 16: I am done tinkering with the blog template - for the time being. Please do let me know if and why you like it. As some kind readers have noted, they visit my blog far more for the sake of the contents than for the 'packaging', and I wouldn't have it any other way. But even looks need a makeover now and then, I'm sure most will agree... (by the way, you may have problems with reading this blog if you are still using an old browser like IE6: so the blogger administrator tells me. Try IE8 or Google Chrome, or a recent version of Mozilla Firefox).

I have 135 followers now, and the number keeps climbing, so I guess it should be close to the 150 mark by the time of the blog's fourth birthday in July. The 50,000-visits mark, of course, has already been crossed...

Dear Sir,
I liked this template better than the previous one. I too often felt that the template was bland and too common. This one is a welcome relief.
However, in my opinion, the layout is not very praiseworthy. Please check the 3 column pattern. I think it would suit the blog better, while making it compact and putting more information before the reader's eyes.
I think that the 'Welcome in' note as well as the 'labels' widget should be placed higher up to attract attention to them. The 'Visits till now widget can probably come down.
But anyhow, this one is much better.

Dear Sir,

I find this format easier to read, perhaps because of the black letters against light blue background. But I find the scroll (the sea remains static while the blog rolls up and down)a little difficult to adjust to.

I prefer the template of the Wanton Whimsy blog.

With regards,

Aakash

I guess I see what you mean, Aakash, though it didn't seem like a problem to me!

One thing you could do is to zoom the page out to make it larger: that way you won't have to look at the background at all...

Sir,
I like this new template of yours. The ocean represents the endlessness of our thoughts, the ripples represent their crudeness and the movement of the ripples(although static in this case; but we can always use our imagination!) represent the variety of our perceptions, the constancy of change. The colour blue also looks comforting to my eye.

Dear Sir,
This new template has a cool colour- blue. The ripples in the blue ocean makes one feel calm. Moreover, this template is soothing to the eye too. But I like the content of the blog more than its template.

With regards,
Soham

Sir,

For me this layout is a bit tough tough on eyes. Blue and black does not provide the best contracts for a comfortable reading..
I visit the blog only for the thought provoking contents and will prefer seeing a plain ans simple layout like the previous one..
That might be anachronistic and a minority opinion though :)
