First video!

My daughter has just made her first full project with Windows Movie Maker, all by herself - no one showed her how to - and using stuff she had on the computer as well as things she had downloaded from the Net. The subject, as you will see, couldn't be closer to my heart. Enjoy!

A delightful video Sir,a truly inspiring one.I have books lying unread on my book shelf, out of sheer laziness. So, a warm thank you to Urbi for reminding me so sweetly of the joy of reading.

I have never made a video in my life and am sure even if I did,my first video could not be half as coherent and spontaneous as that of her.
'Made by Urbi Chatterjee, inspired by Dad,encouraged by Mom' - these lines brought a strange warmth to my heart and a smile onto my lips. The background music is very soothing too.

My humble best wishes to your daughter.

P.S. Sir,what does 'Urbi' mean?

Warm regards
Rashmi

Please tell Pupu that I loved watching her first video, and yes - although I wouldn't have said this two months ago (because I absolutely couldn't have imagined otherwise)- I am awfully glad about the subject that she's chosen...but all the same what else would she have chosen? Clothes or something? Pupu? Can't really see that happening.

Also I couldn't do much about the lump that rose in the throat towards the end and towards the middle as well.

I guess this is as good a time as any (I keep forgetting) to thank you for putting up that link to the blog "People Reading". It is one of my favourites.

And of course, thanks most awfully for sharing your daughter's very first video with us, Suvro da.
Love and prayers....

Excellent! Mind if I embed this video on my blog?

How old is you daughter? Where did she get the photos that has been used in the video?

Suvro Chatterjee said...

Dear Mr. Dawkins,
Thank you very much. My daughter is a little past twelve.
Before I say yes, may I take a look at your blog, please? You may send the link here or by email.

Nice, neat, solid piece of work, Urbi! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have never made a video myself, but looks like it must have been a painstaking task calling for quite a bit of patience, considering especially, that you did it all by yourself. The fact that you enjoyed making the video was evident throughout.
And your choice of topic is of course praiseworthy.
Best wishes and good luck.

Sir,
Please don't mind me asking this but I want to know what does "Urbi" mean?

A great congratulations and thankyou to Pupu for making a movie on such a sensetive topic.

you made us all aware of the bare truth... books are our life line. Not only do they reflect the reality but also creat new reality.

Thanks once again.
Love,
Sriranjani Datta.

Dear Suvro Da,

I accessed your blog today to check if you have written something on the latest decision of Mr Kapil Sibal - to scrap board exams. Though I did not find what I was looking for but got amazed to see the video. Congratulations to Urbi on her first full project.

Regards,
Sritanu

excellent, wonderful.

those of you who have worked with Windows Movie Maker would know, putting together something like this is not trivial.

Like father, she's beyond her years.

God bless, keep the good stuff coming!

Dear Sir,

What a surprise :) At twelve I was still intent on Goosebumps and did not give another thought to inspire others to read! Urbi's effort is praiseworthy! My favourite part of the video is the caption "Reading makes people happy". So true and cannot be better or more simple put! Here's many many happy hours of reading to her all her life. Hope she has already and will continue to find books her true best friends :-) My best wishes to her Sir, you must be very proud of her :-)

Regards,
Vaishnavi

Heartiest congratulations to Pupu for her fine job. :)

And not just for the theme (which sure is among the closest to your heart), it's for how she accomplished it too!

The ending acknowledgements had me smiling widely.

Dear Sir,

Do tell Pupu that I have absolutely loved it. Very few people bother to read these days. It is good that she values this taste of reading. I am eager to see more videos from her on some other important issues like happiness, love, charity, music, so on and so forth. I hope you also remember a very similar kind of video that I made on Nature and gave it to you a few months ago. Pupu must have seen that too. I am also looking forward to a nice blog from her in the future.

Dear Pupu (through Sir),
I Would truly agree to what Mr. Subhasis Graham Mukherjee said regarding working of/with Windows Movie Maker. Having worked with WMM and complicated tools too.. I would say though WMM is a vry trivial and comparatively easy tool to edit videos, But one needs to know the tricks to create a good video and i wouldnt think twice to affirm that Pupu knows them, if not all but many..

kudos to Pupu in all her ventures.

My word ! This is an awesome presentation Urbi/Pupu - I'm not sure how you would like to be addressed.....Great work and please do keep it up......best wishes always....Bev.

Dear Sir,

I was going through some of your old posts when I came across this one. Many thanks for putting up this video and my congratulations to Pupu for making such a nice presentation. And as rightly mentioned in the ending credits- much of what she is and will be is due to the wonderful parents she is blessed with.

Somewhere I read that money can’t buy happiness is a wrong saying because money can buy books and it is pretty much the same thing. It is true that we might run out of health and wealth, our near and dear ones might depart; but we will certainly never run out of books. People who have not experienced the joy of reading are poor in many respects.

I shall end with only one query- there was no photo of a single Indian reading a book in this video!

With regards,
Saikat.
